Not even the internet has details on XBOX bootlegs, I remember WAAAAAAAAAY back that XBOX bootlegs started being ripped and shared. For some reason or another there is no information on them, I'm talking about pressed silver DVDs not DVD-Rs in stacks. While remembering waaaaay back, Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball was mainly shared around, I remember the bootleg art with the header "Playbox" and it had that bootleg Pokemon card shiny graphics on the cover. This is also missing from the Internet as well. So with all information missing on the internet, and no where for them to be found. Would pressed bootlegs reach a price or become rare?
Ive got a feww bootleg games frm here, just because I never owned any bootlegs. They where cheap, and I think they stay unless we can figure out how many of the are made or any special code is on it. or whatever, I dunno. Intrested in this
they are not really rare and very few people prefer to collect silvers over original games (some do including myself) however the prices for silvers are usually £1-2 when they come along so unless its specific titles with value you are looking at a more niche market
I was curious about them, because there's just no information about them. What about the "playbox" banners, was that on all of them?
I doubt they would be worth much. For example, I have Chinese silvers of Radiant Silvergun, Metal Slug, ect, for the Sega Saturn, and I doubt I'd get more than what I paid for them at the time. Maybe if some collector wanted them for being rare Silvers if there is even such a thing? The only interesting part about these disks really are the odd printings on them. A lot of the disks I have look professionally designed in some way, but all include markers such as "SOUND FILED DEMO ONLY!" and things to make look legit.
Xbox bootlegs are probably the lowest print runs when it comes to HK silvers IMO. Seems it goes PS2>PS1>Saturn>Xbox. Since the Xbox had such low penetration in areas where silvers were prevalent I've only seen a few titles made like that.
the "playbox" banners are put on instead of the "Xbox" logo and people will still recognise them as xbox games
I had about 20 of these, bought in SG. I sold all of them off pretty recent (for about € 1 or € 1,5 each IIRC?) even had them boxed. There were some 'rare' titles in there, such as Phantom Dust and Call of the Cthulu...every game was priced the same. Most versions I had were marked 'Xgame'. I'll check if I still have the pics from my sales here. As you can see, I still have a Saturn bootleg game up for sale and I actually consider this one more valuable than any of the Xbox games. If anyone is looking for some, I could always take some along when I'm going on my bike trip in 2014... problem is, they're scarce now as it's an old console (so most of the time, the ones I'd find now are the crap games anyways)
Well that's was self explained, also the "X" was moved around 45 degrees. I'm buying a bunch of them, however I do want DOA Beach Volleyball bootleg the cover art to that was interesting to say the least.
