I've checked ebay and haven't found an auction for the Japanese release of Chrono Trigger for PSX. My friend is trying to sell his copy, but he doesn't know what to ask for it. If this is in the wrong section, by all means move it :).

Sorry to say Jap version does not bring much maybe 20.00 or so, where as the
USA version sealed brings about 500.00 USD.

Huh? He was talking about the PS version. There is no separate PS version of Chrono Trigger on the US PS except for FFC, which goes for $40 new non-GH. The JP PS CT does go for less than $20 though IIRC. JP versions of localized RPGs generally fare poorly unless they have some extras.

USA version, FF CHronicles can be bought, GH version for $20 new and it includes FF 4. The nonGH version can net $50 on ebay.

I doubt even a sealed SNES Chrono Trigger would go for $500.00 US. Maybe $200-300 but I'm just guessing here.

On ebay in Jan a sealed FF3 went for 498.00 USD and a sealed Chrono Trigger hit 500.00 USD

That is how ebay goes, last week a sealed PDS went for close to 400.00 USD yet a month or so before that one went for 150.00 USD

A guy in the UK got 196.00 USD for Street Fighter Zero 3 SEGA Saturn" Factory Sealed and two days later I got one sealed for 79.00 USD

This is why I say bull shit to people who use ebay as a price guide for games.

So I should just tell him around $20? I don't think he'll be too happy, but the poor guy has to sell something to pay off his ticket.

May as well. 32-bit RPGs are also generally selling at all-time lows currently. It's strange times when US versions of Tactics Ogre goes for under $40 and Dragon Force can go for $60.

Anybody who pays over $120 for a sealed SFZ3 is just plain stupid or rich. It can easily be found for under $100 with some patience and sources.

Yeh. I sold Valkyrie Profile for $66 where in other auctions I saw it go for as high as $77. Got mad but I paid like $5 for the game back then. I also sold Tales of Destiny 2 for $70 which was pure luck because other copies went for as high as $65 on ebay. Plus I paid $14 for that game brand new a year after it came out. Boy if I had the $10 to buy Suikoden 2 from Sears way back then.

I sold a Magical Drop 3 MVS cart that I got for free, I thought was worth $50 and sold it early $95 and people after I ended the auction early were offering $145 o_0 some people are just a little crazy. I knew someone a few years ago who collected Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger games sealed, he had over 10 sealed Chrono Triggers... now I know why ;)

On YJ, a used Chrono Trigger runs around 2500 yen, a new one will sell for more. I've seen one clear 10,000.
