Price check on SMS Girl

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by Lemmy_Kilmister, Apr 16, 2005.

  1. Well I just bought a SMS Girl from a dude online for 56 dollars shipped from Brazil. I was just wondering if any of you could tell me if this was a good, bad, or fair deal in your opinions. I'm happy with the purchase so I guess thats all that matters. However, I still would like to know what one typically goes for.

    - Oh, and before anyone says anything, I'm aware that it's Pal-M and bought it souly for show and future trade bait.

I guess it'sa good deal concidering it's only available in Brazil. Maybe someone like Johnny could answer for you since he lives in Brazil.

And if you are a lot into collecting PAL stuff, there are converters that, while not cheap, can be had for some 75 dollars or something.

Or there's always a VGA box, like those ones that have TV-In. Those can take either format, right?

  4. I know about the pal to ntsc convertors, but couldn't justify spending all that dough just so I could play the SMS girl when I already have a model 1 SMS. I got this mostly due to rarity factor and price. As for the VGA box, I don't know? Can anyone confirm that?

Um, you bought the portable SMS Girl right? You won't be able to convert that because it it outputs UHF airwaves, it'll come in on some channel but in black & white because it'll still be in the PAL-M carrier.

  6. Yup, that's the one (was there even another?). I know about the single and how it would come up as black and white. I'm just wonder what a price range would be on the system. Nothing more.

Seems like a decent price. Anyways just putting it out there since Xerdo mentioned PAL conversion and you acknowledged.

Well there's the commom black version if you don't like the candy pink.

anyways, haven't seen one for awhile. Would be cool to collect, but if you want to play games, stick with the original SMS.

Still, if any of you want one, i can try finding one, i just can't guarantee to be complete with box.

The SMS Super compact (the common black and this pink girl one) works using antena or a ordinary RF cable.
US$56 shipped is a good price.

BTW, there're two versions of the pink SMS. One with "Monica no Castelo do Dragao" built-in, and another one with "Sonic" built-in.

Oh, shameless plug...check out my site, I'm in the endless quest of cataloguing all TecToy's console variations, portuguese only, but pics is worth a million words ;)

Any TV card should be able to take PAL-M RF (assuming it's mutli-region, which they *usually* are), and you can get cheap enough ones for about $40-50. But yeah, the SMS1 is probably better.

Does it have any built-in games like the SMS II?
