    Hey guys

I noticed recently that a lot of 16 bits games had their prices ridiculously grown up.

Since their is quite a lot of sought after games that I want to purchase, I am wondering if I should buy them all right now in case they keep getting more expensive, or should I wait to get them for a good price on yahoo auction?

The thing is, there is a MD Justice League for 300$ on ebay right now, while I can see the same game for wayyy more on yahoo auction.

Same thing with Comix Zone. The game was like 130$ 3 months ago, and now you can't find it under 200$.

Does the prices are getting more expensive in Japan too, or is it an occidental thing?

How much should I be willing to pay for a complete copy of Vampire Killer and Justice League on the MD?

Most likely an eBay thing... eBay has a lot of things I've seen with stupid prices.

MD began to fail sooner in Japan. Later games that are worthless junk for Americans had tiny print runs there. Say Batman Forever, Comix Zone, The Ooze...

Comix zone used to be much more.
It dropped dramatically and goes back to higher prices.

The only games that start to be ridiculously overpriced are shmups.
Games like eliminate down selling for 300 euros or rendering ranger for 500 euros when you could afford them for 70 euros like 6 years ago...

Someone is trying to sell a copy of Eliminate down for 550$ on ebay right now.

I remember seeing on a japanese blog that someone found this game complete on the wild for 300 yens. He took a picture of it next to the receipt.

Even if I totally understand the fact that there is some high demand for some games, and some other are uncommon to find, I hate all this super high priced thing.

Sometimes I feel that import sellers are putting random ridiculously high prices out of their asses for some games for no valuable reasons, and they talk to each others to overprice the same games at the same time.

    - "Hey, do you still have a copy of Battlemania 2?"

    - "sure, that will be 200$"

    - "But it was 120$ 3 months ago, why is it so expensive now?"

    - "Because fuck you, that's why"

I bought my copy of Eliminate Down back in the early part of the 2000s for all of 20 pounds. I have all the shooters on the Megadrive and the only one that cost me more then 60 pounds was Alien Soldier.

In Japan, especially out in the sticks, you hardly find any Megadrive games, I have been to quite a number of shops in Ibaraki, Gunma and Tochigi and I am lucky if I see more then 10 Megadrive games. Even then, they tend to be the same games of Sonic, Sonic 2, Super League, Super Monaco GP, Joe Montana, Puyo Puyo, Fatal Fury, Columns and other games of that ilk.

Yahoo Auctions are becoming like Ebay, as people start to think that old games = lots of money. However juts requires one idiot to buy a game at a high cost for everyone else to push up the prices.

Another thing though is that 6 years ago the Yen was a lot weaker so conversely the prices in the west were lower as 13,000 was around $100 fast forward to today and 13,000 would be nearer $175.

I'm not too sure about Mega Drive becoming more expensive. I've bought 10 games this month for the Mega Drive with none costing more than 1000 yen. Sure, they aren't Battle Mania and the likes of but still good titles and all in perfect mint as new condition. I find that the expensive stuff has always been like that. Prices seem pretty stable for the most part.

You should be able to find a CIB Vampire Killer for not over 15,000y. If not, I suggest you have some patience until you find it for a reasonable price.

On the other hand there are some very rare MD games who go for cheap just because people are too focused on the "famous" rare titles, ha, the eBay...
