  1. We have come across some crazy shizer in our time (crazier than the Casio Loopy!) including a Bangaioh prize edition we didn't even know existed...

Sorry this isnt the thread for this. Stick to talking about the game please.

  4. You sure have a big thumb. Maybe you should play less shooters?
    Happy to oblige...

  5. Ouch. :crying:
Does that mean that feedback that gentleman kindly left have been erased?
Prize Bangaio was given out to the five highest score contestants in a Japanese gaming contest. As far as we know it is essentially the same version, only the packaging that has been adapted. It weighs in last time it surafced at over $500 USD, but suddenly I don't feel as chatty....

Yes it does. This section of the forum is for rare and obscure gaming. There are plently of other areas that are more suited to talk about your website.

Also please remember to use the edit button to edit your previous post instead of making two posts.

  8. Hai. Wakarimashita. Taihen shitsurei itashimashita.

Apparently the game (and what you can see on the front) came with a signed Bangaio themed telephone card that appears to be signed by someone at Treasure (maybe Yakumo san can decipher it? :033:) and a special poster. Only five exist. If you are curious the winning score was 60199689 - not sure how long that took to clock up! The contest took place on the 31st of January 2000AD. I think I need a bit of practice before entering the next one!

Sorry, I can't even see the sig on the card. A bigger picture would be nice but to be honest Japanese sigs are really tough to read or at least they are for me.

  10. No worries man. You seemed to have super human status on these boards so we just thought there's a chance! The last character seems to be wind, but we aren't too up on the actual stars behind the Treasure label. In true Japanese style they seem to just get on it with for the good of the company (and us gamers) rather than personal fame. Gawd bless em! Still if it'd sweated it out to get such a high score, I'd be keeping my copy!

wow, I am the biggest fan of that game...Its the one that hooked me on all treasure shooters. I would love to add this to my Bangaioh collection...which right now consists of a factory sealed bangai-o and one I opened to play. Pathetic I know, but this game doesn't have much publicity.

  12. Hortinstein: Do you also have the N64 release of the game? The Dreamcast edition recieved several gamplay enhancements that ultimately make it more fun to play, but just having the game's madness on the N64 is somehow rewarding - like Animal Crossing.

yeah, I was gonna work on getting a copy.

something about this game is amazing...mainly I think how the slowdown allows u to see 300+ missles converging on 2 enemys :) n64 is pretty low res but i might have to get it for "collection"

  14. I think general consensus is towards the N64 version. It certainly gets hammered on the office machine. But the Bangaio Special Edition goes for over $500 which made us turn it down. I mean as far as we know its the same version, but I guess the sort of score you're talking about to win it makes us think its not so expensive after all. I mean these guys must have sweated blood to clock up these scores and probably still have a nervous twitch. Or maybe we're just shite at playing it? :icon_bigg

dam...500, whose selling? I might consider...

  16. It was a contact in Japan but it won't have been his copy. There is a mention of the title on the Treasure web site in Japanese so we have been able to verify the competiton took place. If it hadn't have been Treasure or a handful of other developers, it wouldn't have piqued or nique so much. I wish we had some way of verifying it was exactly the same code or not....

  17. I agree with Genki about the N64 version of Bangai-o. It's a tough call because they two versions are different in a lot of tiny ways that don't really make either version better than the other, but on the whole I find myself getting into the N64 more. A big part of that is probably the controller; Bangai-o is probably the only game that justifies the N64's ridiculous controller, using the ABXY buttons on the Dreamcast doesn't feel nearly as smooth. And as for the so-called "enhancements" of the Dreamcast version, they don't necessarily make that version better, just different. The the Dreamcast version has a more even balance between the characters and more strategy, I think, but the N64 version seems to have more intense gameplay and a more seat-of-your pants feeling. I definitley recommend both games to anyone who likes one of them, though, they're great.

The Dreamcast version is low resolution, too, by the way. Doesn't look much different from the N64 version at all.

    ...word is bondage...

  18. Yeah they are both belting titles in their own right, but there's some mystique about the N64 version that seems to get it more play time round here. I agree it must be something to do with the controller. They go together better than Rez and its vibrator! :icon_bigg

alright, ill have to look into it.

Dammit dont remind me I don't even have a copy of dreamcast or PS2 rez to say nothing for the fact I haven't got the vibrator either.

  20. Sorry mate. Didn't mean to upset you. ;-) If it any compensation our vibrators were seized at customs! Always wondered about the name of the title Rez which is the same as the Japanese word for lesbian. (A bit of research into some of those fruity Hacker PC Engine bootlegs led to this discovery. Honest! :icon_bigg ) Especially bundled with a vibrator... But I digress!
