Just as the title says, have a JVC twin operator that i purchased that will boot, allows Mpeg only games like lunar to boot, but WILL NOT play video! Its like the decoder chip is dead but the rest is working! i've tried reflowing the board, since some of the solder joints looked a little iffy, but to no avail, it still just does the same thing.... anybody ever deal with this before? im just trying to get this to work, or im gonna have a $30 paper weight lol
boots up and won't play video! its freaking insane, and i tried it in 3 different system with the same result! game loads, but just shows black screen with no audio untill you press enter, then it gets to the title, and everytime it tries to play mpeg in game, it does the same thing and hangs LIKE WTF!?!? lol and i tried the cd in the pc and it works, i even dled an image and burned it thinking the real game was screwed, and NOPE same thing... adn when i try to boot a vcd it causes the whole system to crash shortly after you press play! as soon as waiting pops up in the top left, the cd drive makes an odd snap sound and the whole system reboots
I'm guessing everything on the card other then the decoder chip is working... its a conundrum! and druid i sent ya a PM about the SEGA branded card, let me know
tried that, still the same! i wish i had the tech sheet for this, i see test points and stuff on the PCB that interest me a bit though.. i'll figure this out!
soooo its ALIVE!!! i bought a copy of wangan dead heat and it worked and i almost fell over, i started playing and noticed the video was real clean, so i pulled out the card, video turned to crap, so i went and bought a vcd, and it played! so my jap model 2 saturn is complete! now to get a new region free bios... THANKS ALEX! im glad i didn't return it!
