I have this card for about 6 months now, and everything went fine until recently. I think it's because i was fooling around tweaking the card in the control center, but anyway. I downloaded the prey demo, went fine, but crashed 3 minutes into the game. ?. I restarted my pc, and now i have no 3d acceleration, directx or opengl. I cannot play games, and firefox/IE "lags" when i scroll pages.

I tried to boot in safe mod, uninstall the drivers, run "driver cleaner", reinstall cataclyst and everything else but i got the same problem.

I wanted to format everything and restart with fresh installations, but i lost my "backup" XP disc, and all i got right now is a burned vista dvd, but there's only beta drivers with no opengl functions, and all the games i have right now run with opengl.

Anyone with better knowledge in pc than me could help me?

    thanks.

Most likely some driver issues. Don't download the latest drivers from ATIs site. Just install the ones that came on the driver disk. See if that works. If it does, then it was the drivers you downloaded from ATI's site.

Did you overclock your video card?

Yeah, i wanted to use it, but then i remembered that i cleaned lots of things to make space on my harddrive not long ago, including all the restore points. :(

Anyway, still searching for the CD, will keep you updated if it works or not. If it doesnt, well, i guess a good format might be the only thing to try. If that doesnt work..

...try it in someone else's machine, and if that doesn't work, call it dead. You might want to check your system temperatures, make sure it wasn't caused by overheating.

I'd tell you to run SFC (start-run cmd, type sfc, follow onscreen instructions), might save your a reinstall of Windows, but since you don't have your original CD it won't run anyway (or rather it will, but it'll demand the CD later).
