I have a couple of Nintendo Wii's one of them will not read the disc. This one won't emit light from the laser. I took a known working Wii drive and replaced the Wii's logic board with the one from the Wii that wouldn't emit light from the laser. I also put in a new laser before I tried moving the logic board. Either way it wouldn't read the disc. Means the logic board is bad of course. But I read somewhere that Wii's have fuses on the drive board. Could one of the fuses be bad so that the laser won't light? Remember that I replaced the drive with a new laser. I said this again just in case somebody missed this. LOL! Ok on the other Wii the laser works fine. I didn't realize that until I took it apart because you can't tell what the laser is doing when it is all closed in by the consoles case. Which I wish I would have done that when I replaced it with the same new laser I used on the other Wii. The drive wouldn't spin the disc. I also moved the drive's logic board too another known working Wii drive. Same thing laser works fine but drive won't spin. But on this one I think it can be fixed. Replace fuse or fuses and maybe it will work. Need to check the fuse first though. I know what someone is going to say. Why not replace it with a new drive or new logic board. I like the challenge though. Changing the laser is not always the answer on the Wii. Thought that it would easy but isn't. [formatted by assembler because great wall of text]
Some tips: If you press the "Enter" Key at the end of a sentence it will start the next sentence in a new line. Also if you press the "Enter" Key twice you will create a blank line. Those advanced techniques will ensure that other people can read what you have written. Did you already replace the drive motor? It's rather common to fail.
You just didn't like it because it ran all together. That would have been a lot of lines. Is there a unlimited number of lines you can use in messages?
when you installed the new laser did you remove then anti static solder point? its located on the ribbon itself. Like the first post said. replace the drive spindle motor its a common problem on wii's
