Well they are the common denominator in this issue. There must be something with how these SD cards are made that the EverDrive does not like. I have used about 5 different brands and I have never had a problem.
I will use these cards for my others equipment. Maybe later I will buy another SD card for the Everdrive.
From a quick google they dont appear to manufacture their own SD cards, so they must outsource and buy stock from other companies - possibly even 'factory seconds'. I personally buy SanDisk because they design and manufacture their own SD cards. You also have to watch out for fakes - here is an interesting article about fake microSD cards which shows just how widespread they are, and it also goes into detail about the actual chip manufacturers:- http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=918 The same issues apply to standard SD cards as well.
Ditto. It's the one name that comes up over and over again as being consistently reliable and on spec. The only time I've heard of problems has been with fakes, so I always buy them direct from SanDisk on Amazon. They're pretty cheap anyway, so I wouldn't bother risking ebay or similar.
Windows XP format tool is buggy - it always formats pendrive, cards in quick mode even if you unmark quick option. You could use HP repair/repartition tool - HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. This program can help sometimes. It can also format cards in real full option. Please make sure that you are formatting in FAT not FAT32 and with block 16 kb or 32kb. I'm using Sandisk 256 mb MMC for megadrive and 2 gb kingston MMC for SNES. I think those manufacturers are the best option.
I already tried SD-Formatter and a bunch of other formatting tools - same result. I simply buy some new cards instead of wasting more time.
