The sound is also output to the cartridge slot.
The GG actually has the line output stage in double.
You can check by soldering wires to the right pins and connect audio jacks to it.
I do not remember the pin number but if you google the GG cart pinout you should find it quite easily.

I actually had a similar problem on my GG, I had no audio but a faint crackle despite doing full recap. I tried the Cart output pins and had clean audio there. I ended up rerouting the audio from there.

I tapped into the output from the mainboard and the sound is ok... the problem is from the audio board. I will post a picture of the setup i have ... to show you:D

Update: replaced the caps with the metalic kind... that the soundboard was fitted with originally... the sound is better but there is still some static and the volume of the sound is normal (not loud) with the pc on full blast...(that means the output from the audio board of the game gear is lower than the output of the pc)

Ok so I gave the console a few days to rest I had a few exams and other stuff to do ... so I couldn't stress it out and play it without sound:)). So after trying to test it out ... it didn't start up... but after 5 minutes or so of standing on her own and ON it started all of a sudden to play the game. Cap problem?

Ps: got home and tested it out a bit seems it's the display caps tho I had new ones soldered... I will change them again what to do:(. It seems that the game plays and after a while the image starts appearing and after a minute or so bamm full image
