hello. does anyone know if theres a online store selling the retrousb power other that retrousb.com? problem is i want to purchase one but i aint got a credit card. for some reason the order option only supports credit card order. my visa debit card wont work and it says on the page that there is no other payment option allowed. this seems kinda crazy but i guess bunnyboy must have his reasons for this decision.
so frustrating thou when you want to buy something and have the cash but cant. i'm sure i'm the only guy that has tried to buy one of these and hit the credit card only snag. i did email the support yesterday requesting a possible alternative payment option but there is no reply yet and i aint very confident judging by the sites faq under the payment section that there will be an alternative.
if anyone knows somewhere else that these nes powerpaks are on sale you would be a life saver :)

another alternative would be to wait for the inviteNES cart but i'm not sure if that has compatibility as good as the powerpak and i heard it uses a battery for saves. i would prefer the save method used by the powerpak and everdrive carts where you save to the sd/cf card. the batterys are prone to leakage i heard which can damage pcb's.

I'm not aware of any other store that are selling the PowerPak. You might be able to find someone selling one on the forums here or on other gaming sites, but I doubt you would be able to use your debit card that way. Another possibility is eBay, but they tend to remove auctions for things of that nature.

well i wouldnt mind sending the retrousb dude a international money order or something. just seems there has to be an alternative to credit cards. i don't have or want a credit card and have never encountered any problems purchasing anything online until now. i heard there was a lot of this type of thing back in the 90's but now there is no reason to not have other payment options surely.

Can't you just go to the store and buy a pre-paid credit card?

You should probably wait to get your reply from their support about payment options because they might be able to help you out somehow. If they can't help you might try a prepaid card as Geoff suggested.

That's very strange. I was under the impression that you could use a debit card the same as a credit card, as long as it had the visa/mastercard logo on it. I get asked all the time "credit or debit?" when I use my debit card. I can't imagine why or even how this situation would be any different. Usually if a place says "credit card" they're referring to either. I've never seen a checkout process where it says "credit/debit card number" only "credit card number."

Have you ever had problems with your debit card elsewhere?

EDIT: didn't realize how old this topic was. Did you get your issue resolved?

nah it wont work with my visa debit card and i don't know why. hsbc used to use maestro cards and then i was issued a new visa one. seems to work fine most places. wouldnt work when i tried to pay as a paypal guest either. said card not supported. after feeling desperate not being able to get a nes flashcart krikzz announced he was working on one so i can wait for everdrive nes :)

Yeah, it'll probably be on par with the powerpak or better; I guess it just depends on how much work krikzz puts into polishing the product.

Off Topic: I'm not familiar with the NES to be honest, does the NES have any special chips on game PCBs as some SNES games do?

I believe it was even worse than the SNES in that department. I just read of an issue with running Famicom games on NES. Seems the Famicom had an extra audio channel that went from the cart through the console. Not all NES can use this extra channel since they lack the connection in the slot. So one guy made an adapter cart with a separate audio jack to connect inline with the main one out from NES. So this seems to confirm there were special chips in most if not all games. I know the games used something called "mappers". Maybe these have something to do with the cart hardware setup?

yeah the mapper thing seems to be a pain in the bottom. i don't know anything technical about the mappers but the mapper issue seems to be the biggest hurdle when it comes to nes flashcarts. i'm hoping krikzz will have great mapper support. he did state that the everdrive nes will support third party mappers so at the very least we should have the same compatibility as the powerpak considering people are using third party mappers on the powerpak for best compatibility.
i have a lot of faith in krikzz and got a feeling he's gonna do something special with this upcomming everdrive.

Well, if I end up with any spare money, I'll pick up an Everdrive NES and do a review of it; it'll be the first Everdrive product that I've personally purchased though, lol.

I think krikzz makes good products, the only one that I have any issues with is the ED64, and that's just my personal opinion and there's other various reasons as to why I prefer the 64drive, but I'm not getting started on that again.
