Problems trying to softmod my xbox

I have put my usb stick in the xbox using the usb cable i got off ebay now the xbox recognises the usb stick and says 50k blocks free etc and rename and erase and I've put the usb stick in my pc to put the softmod installer and splinter cell save its asks to format for the pc to be able to read i click no and try to use explorer360 and it ain't recognising the usb stick please help i've been at this for hours

 

Try a different USB drive and/or different USB ports. May potentially be an OS issue as well.

 

Yeah, it tends to be the USB. It needs to be a fairly old and small USB. I got round it by using my PSP with a 4GB SD card in it
