Problems Using A Famicom Disk System With A Front Loading NES

The AV Famicom has an expansion slot. You can still use the Hori 4 player adaptor.

 

You can use the Hori adapter but not with NES games. If he gives his NES a Famicom style expansion slot, he can play both. Otherwise he'd have to mod the AV FC's controller ports to give them some expansion bits present on the NES to use a satellite/4score. Besides, Famicom peripherals are not cheap, especially the gun; the NES equivalents cost like 5-10x less.

 

The only Famicom peripherals I really want to use are the 3D Goggles and the Keyboard. Of course I'd also like to get the extra sound channels out of the FDS as well.

Yes that what I do, I bought an New Famicom and routed wire from the FC expansion slot (P2 D3 & D4) to the missing signal pin on the nes port #2.

Port #1 D3 and D4 are not present on famicom exp. port, to get them you will need to add an 74LS368 IC to create those signal, I think they are only used by nes 4 player adapter. since ROB and zapper alway plug in port #2
