I'm trying to use the xbcd drivers for my 360 controller, and in order to install them you have to uninstall the ms drivers, install the xbcd ones, and replug in the controller. When you plug in the controller windows is supposed to ask me if I want to automatically install drivers or select ones. The problem is after I install the xbcd drivers and plug in the controller, a window pops up saying "new usb device detected" then a second later another window pops up that says "360 controller for windows detected, new device ready to use"(or something along those lines). Is there a setting I can change so that windows doesn't choose the drivers for me? I think I've changed something like this before(kept windows from automatically installing hardware) but I can't remember what I did. Also if I don't unistall the ms drivers and attempt to update the drivers by pointing windows to the xbcd.inf file nothing happens, windows continues using the ms drivers. I'm running xp home on a sony vaio if that helps.
you could try to locate the .inf thats stored somewhere in one of your windows directorys and rename / delete it and the do a new install
I believe I erased the ms drivers I had installed, but from what I've been reading windows just treats it like any other plug and play pad and installs the common drivers. I found a different emulator that supports the d-pad, so I'll probably leave it alone for now.
