Hi, maybe you've seen the pic from the Atari Gotcha coin-op in my collection thread. This machine has only one problem: The Joysticks won't work Tried: Check wires - all ok Clean contacts and remove rust on the pcb - ok The Picture is good, the sound comes, the coin-slot works. Only the joysticks don't show any reaction. Anybody know what can I do? Mike
Buy a new one? It might be shorting somewhere if you have rust on the board and removed it. You might have some tiny speck making a connection somewhere that's messing it up. Check all your tracks, and go over it with a suitable cloth, even if you can't visibly see anything.
Are the microswitch joysticks? If so, test the microswitches and replace if faulty. Check continuity in the 'stick wires. Also check the board is OK - try wiring a harness to a makeshift stick (some buttons). Do you have the manual?
Yes there are microswitch joysticks. I'll try it tomorrow with a CompetitionPro Joystick. And I have the manual, including schematics I don't know if there is another Atari Gotcha in Central Europe. My one was a gift Mike
You'd be hard pressed to find one, yeah! Cool, give that a go. Microswitches often fail. Usually you'll find them to be the standard type so you can just switch them out (get some from a good arcade dealer like suzo, or even an electronics supplier). If you need any further help, just shout!
