Problems with running various boards on my Supernova

I recently tested out a bunch of games on my Supernova that had various issues & was interested to find out if anyone else had issues running these games.

When I fire up Liquid Kids, the picture is pretty dark but brightens up over time. It also looks like it has a vertical hold problem like those CRT TVs did about 20-30 years ago. Growl, which also runs on Taito's F2 hardware like Liquid Kids, has the same problem. So I'm thinking the boards may be good & there is a problem running F2 hardware games on the Supernova & they have specific wiring specs. If this is true, I'm not sure if there is any way around this, but if there is and anyone can provide suggestions, I will be very grateful.

I also ran the Konami X-Men 6-player board. I got picture, but only the right half, which I'm certain is because the game uses 2 monitors. But whenever I pressed the "insert coin" button, nothing happened. The controls didn't seem to be registering at all. Does this game use a special control schematic due to its 6 player nature? I doubt there is, but is there any way to work around the need for dual monitors so I can play it with my Supernova?

Another game I ran is Atari's Guardians of the Hood. The game works fine in attract mode but I wasn't able to get past the title screen after pressing the insert coins button. I checked it in MAME and the 3rd button is what you press to start the game after inserting coins. But whenever I hit the 3rd button on my Supernova's control panel, nothing happened. Does this game use a unique control layout? This is the only Atari board I own so far so it could be Atari uses different control schematics.

Also, last year I bought a Vendetta (Konami) board and noticed that when the volume was raised on the board, the picture started glitching to the sounds of the game music. When I lowered it, to a certain level, I could still hear the music but the picture didn't glitch as much or perhaps even stopped glitching. I bought another board thinking it had problems, but the same thing happened with the new board. So is this an issue with the game requiring specific wiring that the Supernova can't accomodate?

Other than that the other boards I tried---Shadow Force (Tecmo), Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (Sega), and Diet Gogo (Data East) all worked fine. I also tried a Sly Spy that worked but seemed to have graphics glitches in the layer of background sprites seen during the skydiving portion of the game (some weird objects appear in the sky) & the motorcycle level (the background flickers with that building with the Data East popping out every now & then, which doesn't look right & doesn't happen in MAME). So I'm guessing that's a faulty board.

Not sure if you will read this but...

1 - The JAMMA video spec is quite loose, it can be anywhere between 1vpp to 5vpp at around 1k ohm. Compare this with the SCART video spec of 0.7vpp at 75ohm. Most SCART tvs can cope with the higher voltages but may require a resistor to limit the voltage. If using a RGB to video convertor then the convertor may not cope with the video signal well hence the possible issues you are getting. There is no easy fix for the problems you have.

2 - Yes the 6 player version does use two monitors, there is a 6 pin header on the board that you can run a second monitor from but you will have to find a way to do this. For information the pinout is
    1-red
    2-green
    3-blue
    4-ground
    5-nc
    6-c-sync

if you want to play a specific character then you might need to wire up 3p to 6p too.

as for the other issue, press the test button on the board and then select io test, it will tell you if the inputs are working on the board.

3 - as above but if there is no button, then there may be one on the supernova, else bridge pin 1 and 15 on the jamma connector (the gap on the board is pin 7).

4 - This could be a number of things from bad grounding, faulty amp, low rated psu going close to its limit....

The supergun is a nice unit but it won't run every arcade board 100% and you will have issues...
