    Hello,
I recently bought the 1st Sega Wondermega model.
Cartridge works fine,Lid opens and closes fine (a bit slow though). What doesn't work is the CD part,CD is not spinning and not getting accessed.
Am i looking at a dead motor? Is this easy to replace?
The power supply that came with it is a Genesis 2 Power Supply,i don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Can a original Wondermega Power Supply be bought somewhere?
Please if anyone can help me,let me know.
    Thanks,
    ChupaX

    Check the lid switch first.

I haven't opened up the Wondermega yet,
What does the Lid switch look like and where is it located.
    Thanks,
    ChupaX

its a switch that gets pushed down by the lid when you close it, sometimes hardly accessible from the outside. dont know where exactly its located on the wondermega.
anyway, push that switch down while the lid is still open.
you should be able to see the laser light up.

just fyi, the motor wont start up at all if the laser cant adjust its vertical position to the cd first. this is often misinterpreted as a dead motor.

there are several things that can go wrong with a cd drive.
from my experience, the most likely are as follows, from most to least frequent:

    - laser lens dirty or scratched (clean lens and adjust laser pot)
    - disc-motors bearing is busted. motor spins, but is noisy. (replace)
    - disc-mounting is misaligned and the laser cant adjust itself to the cds vertical position.
    - lid switch bent or broken.

Be very, very careful if you're going to try cleaning the laser without the help of a specifically-designed disc (presumably if it isn't spinning, such a disc is out of the question).

well i think you should check the cables going to the lens, during shipping with postal kicks and fists the flat cables move.
