Yeah, as most people proboably know the game otherwise known as Contra got quite an overhaul for the european release. humans turned to mechas and the series as such turned pretty damn cool! afaik there are the folowing releases: Probotector (NES) (Contra) Probotector 2 (NES) (Super C) Probotector (GB) (Contra) Super Probotector (SNES) (Contra 3) Mega Probotector (MD) (Contra hardcorps) are there any more? was this ever released in any form in japan?, if not then why not, the japanese sure do love their mechas otherwise and these are some of the coolest designs ive seen.
The list should be; Probotector (NES) Probotector II - Return of the Evil Forces (NES) Super Probotector - Alien Rebels (SNES) Probotector (GB) (Also re-released in Konami Collection on GB/GBC, but the one featured there only has the Probotector logo, everything else in it is Contra) Probotector 2 (GB/SGB) is missing from your list. (the Factor 5 port of Super Probotector) Probotector (Mega Drive)

This forum does not allow many spaces :/ Also released in Europe: Contra Advance: The Alien Wars EX (GBA) Contra: Legacy of War (Sega Saturn & Playstation, 1996) Contra: Shattered Soldier (Playstation 2) Neo Contra (Playstation 2) They dropped the Probotector name etc after the 16bit era.
Which I think is sad, as I would've loved to see Shattered Soldier and Neo Contra in Probotector style (y'arr, robot FMVs and story adjustments to fit) I guess the reason why "Probotector" was dropped during the leap to PSX was most likely because of the costs and effort it required. (And with a touch of "slightly less" sensitive rules)
yeah me too, its a shame they didnt atleast put a playable robot character in as player 2 or as an unlockable or something so this series is unheard of in japan?? theres no "contra europe" release like there was with "SMB usa" ?
Not as far as I am aware. Those kind of things didn't happen until disc media (except for the odd few like FFVI:Easy Type - or was that already available before FF3USA?)
a-ait the games are sussed, so what about side-merch.. toys, posters, tshirts etc.. any of that stuff around?
All I can add is this demoscene art that I remember from long ago: http://www.demondownload.dk/gfx/compo_images/the_party_92/titan.gif
altho the proportions in that pic are way off its still interesting, from what context was this taken?
