I think I've found another diamond in the rough for the PS3. Very few have caught my attention or interest other than 3 games, including this one. One was MGS4, another was some Dragon riding game, and this one, which is named "White Knight". The games graphics look almost TOO good to be gameplay, imo. I did enjoy the idea of an Escaflowne type transformation, though. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=3241 This made me dream of hack N slash gameplay of turning into the Giant knight and kicking ass and taking names like Sauron in the begginning of the Lord of the Rings movies.
You know, I saw this trailer today too (penny arcade linked to it, I think) and my jaw dropped. My prefrences are with Nintendo on this generation, but if the PS3 can pull off this kind of game (and the game really looks a lot like this throughout), they may still have a chance. It's an awesome looking game.
Honestly it doesn't look that amazing. Its on par with next generation graphics (which indeed are nice) but its not some amazingly leap ahead of what we've already seen. Impressive and notable, but mind blowing it isn't.
It is not that the graphics are amazing, I just love the way the game seems to "flow". It seems so dynamic, I am blown away. This game and Ninja Gaiden sigma are my games of the show by a long long way.
Yeah, it's the whole audiovisual "flow" of it that makes it impressive. Graphics like these, we've seen in a million CG cutscenes. But if they finally get to make this flow playable (if they can pull it off), then it'll be one hell of a game.
Thats how I kinda feel but that depends. It depends if it is released in the USA which I doubt since SCEA is still a bitch when it comes to releasing such games from Japan to the US. Here's the direct link to the .wmv HD file (116mb). http://trailers.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_whiteknightstory_tgs06_h264.wmv HEre's a link to a scan that I found while trying to look for high-res screenshots of the game (its in japanese): http://playstation3.gaming-universe.de/screens/whiteknightstoryscan.jpg This game reminds back when the PS2 was about to be released and I kept seeing screenshots of PS2 RPGs that looked awesome but they were never released in the USA.
I wonder, where do people find time to play SO many rpgs? With work, uni, and sleeping, i can barely find time to play Prey.
Just take out sleeping and women out of the picture. That's how. Thats also how i ended up selling most of my PSX RPGs and only kept the ones i really like. I don't see myself buying a PS3 or 360 and maybe even Wii in the years to come.
That's the main reason I don't play RPGs hardly at all. They take so long and I don't find them much fun to play. I prefer more fast paced games like FPS, Platformers, Shooters, Fighting, etc. Still if a RPG is good enough I'll play it. Now lets see the last RPG I played was probably Star Ocean 2 on PSX. Before that it was Seiken Densetsu 3 on SFC. I can't stand turn based RPGs for long unless they are FF4, FF6, or Chrono Trigger.
I forgot some people need to get a life. Too much of anything is bad for anyone. And that comes from someone who spends all his money on games and related hardware.
Personally, I think Trusty Bell is a greater visiual acheivement. This game isn't doing anything special visually, just the same old with more poly's and higher res textures.
That Wii title, by Suda 51 , is one of the most visually appealing games to me at the moment. There's so much more you can do with style than realistic visuals with today's hardware, even if its so much more power hungry than last get. That said, gears of war is gorgeous, but that's just one of the few games - i wish someone would port Quake 3 with proper mouse and keyboard support for the 360 Although they d probably go for the Doom3 engine :/ ehr..ranting again
A couple of days ago i saw this footage of the PS3 game Afrika. http://gamevideos.com/video/id/6321 I have no idea what the objective of the game is, neither seems anyone else.
Looks like it could be one of three things: 1) Wildlife preserve simulator. 2) Documentary simulator (i.e. you take pictures/video). 3) First lightgun game for the PS3. :rambo:
I don't see sony supporting a game that involves shooting at endangered species, so that leaves option 1 and/or 2. While i'm not a wildlife freak, i was impressed with the quality of the graphics (assuming it is realtime generated).
If activists against killing humans in games isnt bad enough, killing animals in a game would be a lot worse. Just think of the PETA people and what they will do is such a game is released.:-( I think that would be tons worse.
