Hi there. Looking though some of the impressive collections of various forum members here, I noticed that quite a few of you have a lot of promotional merchandise: T-shirts, Key rings, figures and the like. I love stuff like this, and though I don’t own a lot of it myself, I do enjoy looking though eBay’s video game merchandise category to see it anything takes my fancy. However, I find it quite difficult to tell if what people are selling is genuine or not. For example, I know this is real and licensed. But is this? And things like this (though quite cool) definitely aren’t. Is there a website out there that keeps track of this kind of thing, an online encyclopaedia of promotional merchandise? Also, ‘Your Collections’, ‘General gaming’ or ‘Off topic’. I really wasn’t sure where to post this. Apologies if I got it wrong
This would be impossible. All they do is call up a promo maker, order a bunch of stuff and then hand it out. Literally it must be millions of items. Ebay has a category for promos in the videogame area. It's an endless sea of shitty pencils, mouse pads, carabiners, and t-shirts. You could probably make an entire site about trying to keep up with the promos.
I've started a (SEGA) merchandise database on Segadatabase. Soundtrack CD's, T-shirts etc. It will never be complete (obviously) but I thought it was nice to be able to see if a certain game you like got some merchandise to hunt after. Anyone with merchandise, please send me your pictures with info. White backgrounds would be best.
I personally love these Coca Cola figures, I don't think there's any website that will have a complete database since it would be so large, not to mention all the 3rd party stuff that would get mixed with the official items. Your better off searching on Ebay or Google items.
This site might be of interest as they guys/girls on there collect nothing but videogame related merchandise. http://www.videogamemm.com/
