Hey guys, I came across 2 controllers that looks a little weird to me (not so familiar with Xbox hardware) The main thing of the first one are the buttons (transparent but not like the model we have in Europe i think For the other, it looks a lot like a 360 prototype controller but with a Xbox 1 plug. Thanks in advance !
Hey Shenman, The first picture you have with the green jewel is the Japanese version of the S controller. That looks just like the one I found a week ago.
The first one is just a Japanese style s-type controller, not special really. I am not sure about the second one. If it wasn't for the sticker I would just have said it was a third party. Although I think the wording on the sticker is different from the usual MS one that I see.
Could well be a 360 prototype, surely a 3rd party could not sell a product without approval. It could well be a very early, if not the first 360 prototype controller, before radon and krypton. Your man to ask would probably be Borman, if anyone.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, it turns out the 360 one is a Krypton ID 0.7 from 2004 !! (with a home button mounted inside but no button tu push on the outside... really weird move here.)
Definatley, but I do remember seeing one before actually. It jogged my memory, just from a simple Google image search, your controller is there, which comes from THIS PAGE (scroll about just over half way down). Definatley a weird one, as kryptons looked LIKE THIS (EDIT: Yes, this is a krypton, but an odd one at that as well, most do not have the odd thumb sticks I believe, maybe someone can elaborate) (Sorry Borman, hope it's ok to use your image for educational purposes here) The Radons came BEFORE kryptons, some of these did not have the guide button and looked LIKE THIS (again, from Borman haha, see why I said he is your man) One with guide button HERE But it seems from draw ups or whatever they are, they went for this look, more of a xbox one controller look. Maybe, not so much this one, but for reference's sake So perhaps, it could be in between the two prototypes. Weird that it has an original connector though. EDIT: Fixed
I once had a Krypton from 2004, the mould had an indent for the home button, but it did not actually have the button, everything on the PCB was there and did light up. Other Kryptons I had, some from 2005, some from 2004 did have the guide button. The earliest Radon I had already had the guide button fully installed. Missing most other parts on the PCB, though (non-working sample, Dec 2004).
Dear your controller Xbox 360 like for xbox classic run perfectly? Do you want sell it or could you indicate me where can found one like this and how much? Thnaks
Thanks again to all of your messages, this community is so awesome Too bad I can't test the controller as there is no way to plug it via USB on my 360 :s
Well sadly it's not that easy! I took 2 shots of my Krypton breakaway and a retail Xbox 1 breakaway. As you can see they redesigned the breakaway cables that you can't interchange them. The next thing to think about is what signals and supply voltages are set to which pin? If you would lay the +5v supply voltage to one of the USB signals you could most likely kill the controller. So please be carefull with tests like this!
