ive always been currious about how cartriges like gameshark pro and action replays loaded and executed unsigned code through the parallel port..... its been a great mystery for me since I bought my first interact gameshark pro unit.. Thanks, Xeveniah Darkwind
Well, technically there isn't such a thing as code signing on the PlayStation. There is simply a precise stub format used by the BIOS which is responsible for loading whatever data comes from the PIO. This is basically what you're gonna need to make an AR-like ROM boot from there:
Also, if you do not have this licencing information, [db "Licensed by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc."] then it will not boot.
Isn't it possible to write out the firmware from one of those cartirdges onto a piece of flash and wire it directly to the parallel port? Could internalize the sucker with a switch.
hmm thanks....... i guess theres a few ways around the region protection..... i just snagged a factory sealed yaroze and green and blue debug units at a garage sale for $500.00usd
Electronics are like food. If you don't "eat" it while it's fresh it's going to spoil inside of the box/case. I see no point on collecting sealed stuff ... But Point made, to each their own.
Dont electronics last for a long time? I mean, the capacitors may dry out but that's the only thing I can think of.
only one question left ive seen a few scph09xx diy paralell port kits how hard are they to install and do the kits work if they work are they worth it?
