So I'm fairly new to the PS Vita scene, and from what I gather the main hack for running homebrews and stuff is HENkaku for FW 3.60. I updated my recently purchased Vita from 3.36 to 3.60, install HENkaku, and all is great. Try to use the PS Store though, and it wants me to update to the latest FW. I'm wondering, what would you do? I kind of wanted to buy a few download only games from the store, but I gather there's no turning back once I update. Is the Vita hacking scene really worth not being able to buy legit games? I don't know much about it, so any insight would be helpful.
Oh reeeallyyyy? All these fancy features I don't know about. I shall learn how to do that and download away!
Just make sure both are using the same account and it should just connect and let you move stuff around via CMA. also make sure HENkaku is active when you do or else the PS3 will yell at you about updating the Vita.
Hmm, I never got to log into my account though, still shows the previous owners account in settings. When I try to sign into mine it tells me to update
You need to factory reset the system then, option is in settings. In the initial setup screen it lets you sign in then transferring something from the PS3 to the Vita should activate it for your account.
as soon as you get into the Live Area make sure to disable wifi then go into settings and disable all the auto startup stuff like the auto download of a new firmware... It wont install without you agreeing to the ToS but its still annoying that if the Vita sees an update it will remember it till next boot.
even disable "Refresh LiveArea Screen"? Edit: When I go to content manager on the Vita then select PS3 it then says "connecting", then asks for an update (Even with the wifi off). Dammit Sony, let me have my cake and eat it too!
Yep disable everything in the auto startup section, now there are other ways to bypass that update prompt but first lets try this! enable flight mode then reboot the system by holding the power button, if all goes well it should forget about any update! now enable HENkaku then try and connect to the PS3, if that works then great but if not then you will need QCMA on PC for the old switch-a-roo trick EDIT: oh right not sure if it matters but disable the wifi after HENkaku is active.
How do I know HENkaku is active? Just install it from that website and that's it? I've tried after installing HENkaku (and disabling wifi), still no luck. I left airplane mode on the entire time after rebooting, if that makes a difference.
It changes the version string in the system settings but if you have an app named molecular shell and it opens then its active. For the other trick people have been using try this http://wololo.net/2016/11/22/must-u...n-access-revoked-henkakutaihenkaku-users-can/ It involves connecting to QCMA on PC then unplugging the USB cable on plugging into the PS3 without closing any error till after you are connected to the PS3. Do remember that the Vita remembers any updates it sees so you need to reboot if it sees one.
Awesome thanks, I will try this out and let you know Edit: Success! Just had to dick around with it and learn when the proper time is to unplug from the PC and switch to the PS3. Thanks a bunch, fate!
Sucks that with V5 you could still access the PSN store with Henkaku installed. Then with the latest version it broke and the developers consider this feature a low priority. This stalemate pretty much stopped me from using my Vita for the last few months.
I only just got mine, the excitement is still strong. Especially after factory resetting it, damn that initial setup menu somehow got me so pumped for some reason, haha. Played a few hours of Runner 2 last night, didn't know they made it for Vita!
V5 broke PSN on retail systems using the PTEL shell files not on regular retails, after that SCE updated their side so we can't fake it anymore.
I don't really blame the developers. It just sucks that everything worked together with such ease and then bam, like flipping a switch, the vita is much less functional the next day.
