PS Vita Testkit (PTEL) 'Show Mode' Info

Comparable to Vita Kiosk IDUs having the DEMO MODE, I recently found out that Vita Testkits have something similar named SHOW MODE. Now I don't really know if this is common knowledge but since I couldn't find any info on that myself, or ever saw any exhibitors actually using it when presenting their games, I figured no..

So maybe this info might help some people being stuck in it. (Like the guy from this thread I found)



To activate and deactivate the Show Mode you simply need to press: L + R + RIGHT + START for a couple seconds. When activated the testkit will power off by itself and after rebooting it will start in the Show Mode.

What this basically does is (partially) block the Power & Home buttons to not let people exit the running application/game or put the testkit in sleep mode. However, the home button still works as before, only the time value has increased. So if you are in an application just hold the button for quite a while to exit it. To deactivate the mode again you need to be on the Live Area.

Note: Unlike to the Demo Mode you can still use the screenshot function.

Hmmm, are you able to run retail games off using this Show mode? any time restriction (20, 40mins) before unit power off by itself?

 

Nope no code execution without activation. And this mode does, more or less, the same things like the Kiosk Vita when connected to a power source. (Full brightness, no screen dimming or auto standby) And yes I left it running for quite a while and no auto shutdown or anything, what just makes sense tbh.

Demo Mode is for stores so that no employees are needed to manually start / shut down the device every day. Additionally they are ment to get the customers play with multiple Demos and the UI.

Show Mode is for exhibitors at events who want to showcase the one Game they made without having the visitors playing around in the settings and such stuff. And since they probably aren't or can't be connected to power all the time, an autoshutdown wouldn't be advantageous I guess.

 

Just wondering does it remain in show mode once the battery has run out and when u charge it
