Hi. I have Windows XP on Desktop Computer. I can not get it to find the Xplorer. I re-flashed it with CAETLA 0.34 and ran Xkiller. It times out... My BIOS is set to SPP on LPT1 and Enable Plug and Play Legacy is off. IRQ / Ports 378 - 37F IRQ / Ports 37B - 370 Userport has those settings in it and it is running (start automatically after a reboot) and I run c:/windows/system32/driver/giveio.sys using the giveio.sys system. Nothing. Any ideas? I tried Windows 98 SE and it did not even work in that! Starting to make me mad because I have messed up my work desk and I have computers everywhere, hard drives. Argh. Just when it was neat and tidy. After a few restarts and all trying to get it to work, my VGA stopped giving me a signal!!!!!!
Dont bother If it wont flash make an xflash CD with the caetla bios on it and use catflap for comms when its installed. Loads easier. See below http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=444732
There's a .dll file that comes with GSCC / GSCC2002 that should allow you to use it with XP. http://www.gshi.org/?s=downloads#section9
Haha, thank you for that link anyway. I got it working (faulty cable) on Windows ME... Another question is what is the FASTEST transfer rate someone has got the PIO port running at? The PS PIO port can run at a max speed of 3 MB/s. The CD-ROM at 2x speed can transfer at a max speed of 352 K/s Thats an 8.5x speed difference! I got mine on an Xplorer SST 29EE020 - 256 KB at a download of 97 KB/s (fast) and an upload of 147 KB/s. If im thinking right, that speed test is uploading TO the PS itself and not just the Xplorer. So the upload would be the most important in this case.
