Hey, it was pretty cool in 1993. It was like "wooooah, can't do this on my Amiga". :)

    No style though, sure.

Nah, even then I thought it was like smelly cheese. I have never really liked the 3DO. I'm not saying it was a poor bit of hardware, far from it but the stuff you could find on the system mostly paled badly against what the SFC had to offer (game play wise, not graphically.) Still, at least the 3DO out shone the Jag. At least we can thank the 3DO for the coming of Policenauts, the original Need "some" Speed and the WARP games even if they were mostly turd at the beginning.

Sadly, I'd take the US PS1 bootup sound over the US PS2 bootup sound...

I really do believe the PS1 startup defined that whole generation of gaming. A new, bold logo with an epic sound.. then the PS logo appeared with a sweeping noise and twinkles.. the unknown.. the new.. bold logo against dark background.. it was mysterious, epic.. and cool.. something never done with a games console before.

Not gimmicky. Not tacky. Cool. It will always stay with me.. when I played my (older) mates Playstation, turning it on in a darkened room, hearing that noise sent shivers down my spine.. a grown ups console.

Nothing beats the Gameboy PING in the middle of a class. Except maybe the StarCraft Cd autorun sound...but that's harder to pull off in class.

Wow, resurrecting an old thread, surprisingly the file still works.

Like most I too dislike the GC boot screen, sounds like Looney Tunes, did the Panasonic Q have the same boot load when playing GC games?

The PS1 and PS3 are my favourite of all time, the Sony PSX DESR has a nice simple boot load as-well!
