I have some questions that I desperately need answered. 1.) If anyone here has successfully installed and used a DTL-H2000, DTL-H2500, or DTL-2700, what computer model is recommended? I tried installing them on two different computers and I think that these computers aren't compatible (there was some table in the technical reference guide showing compatible computers...but these are very old and hard to find.) It's hard enought o find a PC that will actually house the long cards. 2.) What is the latest version of software (so if I have a technical reference guide, what is the last version that was made for the three development systems above?). 3.) I have the technical reference guide which has instructions on how to install, but I don't have the actual development board spec/instruction sheet. Does anyone have one for either or all of the three development boards? I especially need it for the H2000 and H2700 because there are God awful dip switches on the board and I don't know what positions do what (making it very tough for me to know if I'm installing it correctly). 4.) Does anyone have the drivers for the video board or sound board? (Or know where to get them) 5.) Has ayone here actually created anything cool either with a development board or a yaroze? If anyone can answer one or more of the questions above, I would be very happy and appreciative. Thank you in advance for your help and making this such a helpful and meaningful forum. -Benedict Arnold
I have installed the two DTL-H2000 boards in a Compaq Deskpro 4000. I do not think there are any hardware problems, but I do not have the software I need yet... I found these images on the net: Regards.. ConsoleFun
Thanks ConsoleFun! Now to find someone to translate those Japanese letters. Hey, where did you find those on the internet? I've search with no luck b4.
I have updated my last reply with one more picture I found on my harddrive. No need to read the Japanese letters or buy a specific computer You just need to set the jumpers for I/O address, IRQ and DMA to something that is not already taken. Defaults: I/O = 0x1340, IRQ=NONE, DMA=NONE I am trying to remember where I found these pictures. I believe they might origin from an eBay auction for some Sony developer documentation, where the seller showed some example pages... ConsoleFun
So I have a Dell XPS R400, pentium 3 (450MHZ?). I installed the cards and can't get it to work. Not even the H2500 which is a ISA card. I could have sworn that one of the guides says that the cards are picky. And thanks Assembler! Maybe I just need an old PC (486DX2?!?!).
I think you can get a 486 very cheap and even get a 133 mhz 486 for a VERY cheap price, and I am not talking about the internet, heck I think you can get them thrown a 486 in the back of your head on flea markets. And max out the ram with ease from flea markets, he he it is fun, since i would love to have a dos computer again , just for the good old games . Anyway finding an old pc should be very easy
I'm building mine around a Pentium 166 MMX I let you know how it works, hardware is built but I need to get round installing Windows...hopefully if that doesn't work I have a Pentium 133 also.
As far as I remember this information came on a couple of photocopied sheets of paper with the DevKits. Don't forget, you'll also have to tell the driver software what IO and IRQs you have set.
OldProgie, yup. That's why these photocopied sheets of paper are important. Before someone scanned them above, I didn't know what IO and IRQ to use. Now to look for a P90 or 133.
I thought of one more question: 6.) Does it matter if I use Windows 98 or 95? All the instructions mention 95. I bought 95 on ebay just last month for this reason, but after I installed it, I realized why I liked 98 better. If I go back to Win 98 (and assume I get a computer compatible with the cards), will CD-Generator work on it? CD-Gen is very picky I heard. P.S. I have version 4.4 of the tech references. Is this the latest?
No, it's the architecture that’s important. Just aim for a 486/Pentium pc, you can find loads on eBay. If it says use Windows 95 use it, like you said GD-Gen might have problems. One method would be to have 2 hard drives (small ones, a few gig or so - or partition) install 98 on one and 95 on another.
You could have a P1 166-200mhz (not really sure of the mhz ^^) of me for free.. you only have to pay for the shipping... but please note, I'm from sweden, so if you live in usa or similar that would probably cost you lots of money
My problem was my board had built in devices I could not shut off with a jumper or in bios, so they messed with the irqs.
