ps1 graphical errors?

For the first time in years this happened on my Ps1. Disc was cleaner than Lindsay Lohan after rehab. Does anyone have any idea why? Is the GPU kapoot?
what can i do to make my ps1 work good as new?

Also, the it keeps getting stuck on the bottom screen, between fights. really frustrating.

 

The physics engine fails. This would be a CPU problem so check that.

 

Tested on ps2, worked fine, cleaned the cd lens with a cotton bud, it is worked fantastic again..?

i might look into just getting a modded psone.. i heard theyre far more reliable than the psx.. if though mine is a 9002 model, one of the later more reliable revisions! very strange..

 

PSOne are more reliable today because they came out late in the product life cycle. They simply haven't been used as much, on average.
Otherwise these consoles fail a lot more often than the older models.

Regarding the glitch: It's possible that dirt on the laser causes such a specific error but I find that unlikely.
Watch the console for doing something like this again. I still think it's a solder or IC problem.

So, probably just a glitch in the game and nothing wrong with your hardware. It basically looks like the game bugs out regarding one of the players position. The broken graphics could be because the position gets set to somewhere the engine isn't able to handle (like below the floor or something).
