    Dear forum members!

    I have recently acquired an Avenger Pro lightgun for Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn, but have troubles connecting it to my modded PAL PS1 (SCPH-7002, with no direct av out). I have tested it with three games:
    Moorhuhn 2 (PAL) - does not initialize at all;
    Gunfight: The Legend of Jesse James (NTSC): does not initalize either;
    Time Crisis (PAL): here things get interesting: the gun DOES respond on button presses (I can hear shooting and screen blinking), but it fails to calibrate. It DOES respond on aiming the screen (gun points off screen - game displays "Check connection" message, gun points on the screen - game displays "Aim at the screen" message). But it DOES NOT go beyond calibration screen.
    Here are the photos of the gun, how it is connected:

    The yellow video cable thing goes directly to my CRT TV, and the yellow thing from playstation goes into it - so apparently the lightgun SHOULD get the sync signal, but in fact it behaves THE SAME WAY as described above when its yellow thing is not connected at all.

    And now the question is: should I get a new lightgun or just a special G-Con 45 pass-through adapter, which I do not have for now?

    If so, how do you think, will this SCART cable substitute the adapter?

    Thank you all very much in advance for you help!
    Helga.

    You're a little vague as to what you have. My guess is that the cable that goes from the gun to the tv has the video out from the playstation plugged into it.

    If this is the case and the tv gets a picture then I don't think any other cable or adapter is required, or will make any difference.

    On the Saturn/Playstation guns I've seen there is a switch that needs to be set for it to work in PlayStation mode, I assume that is set correctly.
    You need a standard CRT TV, 100hz TV's won't work.

    It could be that the gun is broken.

    Thank you for your reply!
    Yes, it is exactly how it is.
    The CRT TV is pretty standart 50 Hz, but can work in 60 Hz, when I run an NTSC game.

    Yes, and by own I mean OWN, licensed disk with manual. Almost all others I have are just a bunch of CD-Rs xD
    It's a pity I can't play it with a gun though..

    it should be working unless the gun is faulty, also sometimes the gun needs to be connected to the player 2 port.

    i have 1 ps1 / saturn gun which does not require the video cable connection i like this one better, i also have a g-con 2 and a madcatz g-con 2/g-con 45 compatable gun both need the video connection. but they all work with 50/60hz

    no special connections / adapters needed.

    1. make sure gun is not faulty
    2. make sure lighting is optimal eg. no glare on tv screen etc

    Glare on the screen... Maybe I should try playing in the dark. Will post about the results then.
