I have purchased some PS1 titles from ebay, anyone know were I can acquire some replacement jewel cases. I have looked on ebay. Are the NTSC ps1 games packaged in the same custom cases as the PAL games or do they use standard cases?? I am not concerned on resell value as these are for my own personal collection.
NTSC PS1 games came in normal CD jewel cases (same as Music CD's). You won't have a problem to find them.
He also might be talking about some of the older PS1 games. I know games like Doom, Mortal Kombat 3, and some others came in a tall jewel case. ill see if i can find a pic.
Dammit, this is the best pic I could find, the original PS1 jewel cases were much taller than the CD jewel cases they switched to. EDIT: Just found some more pics.
Yeah, older games were in longbox Qpacks, like Saturn games but black plastic (I guess PAL Saturn games?). Others are in normal jewel cases. double disc games were in double jewel cases, like music cds. I have a huge amount of jewel cases in my closet right now because I had to put all my music CD's into sleeves to get more space on my shelf.
The problem with the "longbox" jewel cases is that they are very fragile. One of the games i have, Fifa 96 has one small break were the case attach the other part. Anyway, there were 3 types of longbox cases. The Jewel one (same as the saturn), A plastic one (with ridged border) and a cardboard one. For the best Longbox guide, go to Game-Rave -> http://www.game-rave.com/psx/playstation_perfect_guide/long_box/index.htm
Thanks for the reply, ill be shifting my collection to NTSC after all i do have a chipped PS2 so that should not be a issue. And thanks for the pics as I had never seen such cases, rather impressive. Much appriciated
