Considering they repackaged it, it's highly likely that they are crappy Chinese copies.

Don't lubricate the sled unless there's a reason you had to clean the old grease off, and it doesn't need much at all. White lithium grease.

+2 WLG. Funny how in the past I've bought those replacements and they always seemed to have had an oily residue around those plastic parts and not grease.

i'm from Australia and got my can from a hardware chain store called Bunnings. So i'm guessing you should be able to pick some up the same way.

The way i apply it is to spray it in a cleaned out glass jar and then i mix it around with a Q-Tip , then i dab it to the areas needed on a Drive Mech

Okay, I'm need of help. I have a lot of PS1 library that are scratched. I tried the toothpaste method and Peanut butter methods and did not work and made my discs get even more scratched. I have a very scratched up Star Wars Episode I for the PS1 and it would skip at this part at 1:11: and music would loop. I even tried the SCPH-7501 which was suppose to be more reliable and same damn thing happened. Do you think resurfacing discs might help? Also would a clean disc and a clean laser improve your lifespan of your PS1?

i believe yes , the PS1 will read retry multiple times and re-focus the lens to try and read the data on the disc. If the PS1 reads fine in one go it saves the motors and laser from doing more work.

if you treat it well with good Original Discs ( not heavily scratched ) and if you plan to use burned CD-R's. Burned well with good software , Taiyo Yuden CD-R , burn speed , a quality burner you should have a decent amount of years with the Laser Mech you linked to.

I treated it well and i never burn games. But what would be the best burnspeed? Also, Is slighty scratched good? I got small FMV skips.
Also is this the best KSM-440-BAM i bough? It came with an extension cable and i tested in my SCPH-1001 and 7501 and work great. Do you think it will last me longer? Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/KSM-440BAM-L...rd_wg=LSDvP&psc=1&refRID=7957B7WK5V54045JTKYP

slightly scratched should be ok , but i have a Gran Turismo original that skips on the same part in a FMV so it needs to be resurfaced. If you get a game skipping on the same part the scratches are a little too deep.

Burn Speed depends on the burner media and software , there is no one size that fits all burn speed in the past it was but not now. The way i test it is with NeroCD/DVD speed , and i have good burners that ' scan ' (not all burners can scan). So when i burned TY CD-R media i tried X16 X24 X32 and X16 gave the least amount of C1/C2 errors in Nero CD/DVD speed so that's my default for TY CD-R media

i'm not a pro with replacement drives for PS1 but according to the reviews people seem to have success with it.

Yeah, of course. They aren't intended for that. Don't try a half arsed bodge - get them professionally skimmed. Even the home disc scratch kits are no good.

Okay i have a problem, The 1001 i have is barely reading anything even with a good laser. Is it proaby my discs or something? Also what is the best spot to have the BIAS pot at. The right or on the left. When it was on the left, It would spin way too fast, If on the right, It would work and spin correctly? .

You shouldn't adjust the pots at all unless you know what you're doing and have the right equipment.

I have the right equipmemnt. I have a Mulitmeter. The 1001 i have is barely reading anything even with a good laser. Is it probably my discs or something? I tried the discs in the 7501 with a good laser and still skipped. Also what is the best spot to have the BIAS pot at. The right or on the left. When it was on the left It is 17. volts, It would spin way too fast, If on the right, It would be 18. volts. Which is the best. 17. or 18. volts?
