Hi. Does anyone know where I can get an edge connector that would fit (or could be easily modified to fit) a PS1 memory card? It has 8 pins @ 2.54mm pitch (with some gaps), but the only ones I can find online are double sided - the memory card's contacts are only on one side and are along the inside edge of the housing. This picture illustrates it well:

I have found this page that says about using a single-sided 12 position 2.54 pitch connector, but the picture is too low res for me to really see what it looks like.

    Thanks for any help.

Well yeah, there's that - but I want a few of them... I was thinking this might be the best way to go:

But it would be so much easier if there was some edge connector somewhere I could buy instead of desoldering and dismantling one of these things.

Besides, there is an high probability that it's molded with the controller port (MagicGate style), so I don't think that's a good idea. Try to get some plastic printed with a 3D printer, then you can use flat copper or aluminium stripes to serve as connectors, you could even sell those.

If the controller port bothers you, there's various PS2-to-PS3 adapters, some of which only contain a cart connector. Harder to find, and more expensive than multitaps though, plus you only get a single connector.

Another quick, but ghetto way is a 2-row pin header, with pins bent to match the mc (or whatever else you want - this is a very common trick for macgyvering edge connections).

Also, It'd probably help if we knew what you want these things for. One-off project of mass programming mcs (= looks are unimportant), semiprofessional product (needs to look right and be properly sourceable), sth inbetween...?

This is a solid idea, I think the library near me has a 3d printer - will take some work to measure up a prototype though. I'll look into it.

I actually would like it to look pretty professional - I would potentially use these for projects that would give to other people so it should look half-decent. I have seen a few of those PS2/PS3 adapters, but yes, they are pretty expensive these days. The best one I've found so far was inside an Intec PS2 memory card expansion unit - the connector was easy to take out and use in another project - I just can't find more of them for the life of me (in the EU anyway).

This is the kind of thing I found:

Which obviously won't work (without seriously cutting it up), as the memory cards pins are on one side only, and against the inside edge of the housing.

These are relatively hard to find these days, and cost several dollars each - not exactly ideal. But I would consider it if I have no alternative.

Isn't the back of the Pcb a ground tab?

Of the memory card PCB, you mean? I'm not sure. Why do you ask?
