    I've been attempting to install a Mayumi v4 in a Playstation SCPH-5552 (PU-18 board).
I thought I'd done a reasonable job with the soldering (though the wires are a little long) but on reassembly and boot the CD drive doesn't seem to work properly. I did initially screw up on solder point 1 and had to try and remove some overenthusiastic soldering though I believe I managed to right this.

When you attmept to boot a game you can hear it making a noise like it's trying to access the data (though not quite the full spinning the disc and accessing at the same time if that makes sense) but it stops after a couple of seconds and boots to the BIOS.

Any ideas/help anyone could give would be awesome!

You said it. The wires are a little long. Try that first. Just make them as long as the need to be from point to point. Also don't leave so much wire exposed and add more solder to the pads. Use flux.
    Do it like this

turfster, you nailed it! Thank you very much.

Shorter wires and now it's happy days playing my import games :)
