Hi, i have a scph-1000 series console, i have been reading that you can't booth other region games due to the Japanese BIOS having additional checks.

I have seen on here you can directly replace it with a 27c512 eeprom.

My question is, is there a flash chip directly compatable instead of using the above eeprom?

If it's a launch model SCPH-1000, those don't yet have the region lockout in the BIOS.
All you need for those is a modchip. They will start all region games but skip the PS screen on US/PAL releases.

At this moment I used AM29F040B 5volt PLCC32 EEPROM. It works fine with 3.3volts too as I can see, but it's better to get one of 3.3volt desinged IC's. Wanted to test TSOP32 SST39VF040 in the future, so need time before everything will be done and tested well. But I'm pretty sure it will works just fine.
