Ok I have an SCPH-1002 ps1 (European launch model) which has no sound, one of the capacitors had leaked, I took it out, cleaned it up and replaced it, all the traces appear to be intact still nothing. If it's all the capacitors I might just chuck it, need to get rid of some of my stuff anyway lol Any ideas?
Check the cables you're using are good. If you're using the MULTI-AV out, try using the dedicated ports instead. Capacitors are cheap. Rather off replacing them. Dont chuck it! Only N64's deserve to be chucked around here
check if directly from the dac you got audio, http://dogbreath.de/PS1/output/output.html there's the whole schematic of the audio part, if you mod it you can get a real good sounding cd-player, or a real good sounding game console. coupling the output from the DAC directly to a pair of RCA jacks or the ones in the back gives a good result. good luck
I wouldn't chuck it, even if all the caps are bad people still pay good money for them. Besides, there are only a handful of capacitors involved in the audio circuitry.
Yeah I didn't really mean it about throwing it out, I was just in a bad mood after the leaky capacitor replacement didn't work and i was feeling lazy, I'm not very good with pcb soldering lol. But that bypassing the audio circuit looks good to me, I will attempt that as soon as I have built an extractor fan.
Considering I have piles of 100x consoles I was given, they really arent all that special or worth all that much.
That's what I thought I do actually have a second one but I don't like to throw stuff away lol I'm a bit of a hoarder
I keep most of my stuff too. The way I see it is why throw it out, when it will be chucked into landfill, piled under dirt and left there for a few hundred years to breakdown where the soil will then be toxic and unsafe.
