I live in the Province of Naples, Italy. The flea market I go to is the one held on Sundays in Cicciano, and yes, PSOnes go for really little (personal record: 2.50 euros for a SCPH-102). They also almost always come with a modchip, because here nobody ever used a non-chipped console and the few who did used Action Replay. That's why it is difficult to find a Saturn around here; with the sheer easyness of making PS1 unauthorized copies, the Saturn always had a marginal role here. Most people did not even have one original disc the rest were copies. I only had one Used controllers here go for 1 euro (which should be $1.30)
I regularly get PlayStation for £1 at car boot sales.. lol Wouldn't mind some spindles though, as stated previously I have many consoles without one.
My thrift store of choice sells them usually for $15 a pop at first. Prices drop quickly because the store is in Vallejo, CA. A quick google search will show you why nobody can buy them.
Yeah the cheapest I've found them here in Virginia is about 12 ~ 15 bucks if they are completely abused and $20 if they are in ok condition. I've bought 2 lots from ebay and both had issues . . . Its why I've gotten to the point of just buying parts . . . all of them seem to have laser issues . . . all of them! -Disjaukifa
I regularly get them for £0.99 on eBay here in England, with accessories and meet up with the seller to remove the shipping costs. But I'd still be interested in seeing the spindle from an SCPH-1000 or development/debugging console of the same time.
I hate collecting from sellers when you get an absolute steal - I can see the frustration in their face, like I've ripped them off. Obviously you're a harder man than I!
At least you don't have problems with the sellers in getting your item. I recently won a PAL PSone w/Sony LCD, 2 controller, memory card, RGB scart. 8 games. FF7,Soulblade, Ridgeracer, Destruction derby,Medal of honor 1 & 2, smackdown and star trek invasion. I got for $41 including shipping. The seller is being a real pain. Telling me that it will take 4+ weeks to get my item and no tracking # is available. The seller lives about 1,000 miles [1609.3km] and even with the slowest shipping service it should take about 7-10 days. Here's the kicker, they charges me for priority shipping which takes 2-4 days. I just think they are mad because it didn't sell for over $100+. Only reason I want a PAl system w/LCD is so I can play my retail copy of Hellnight.
Funny, I've never had an issue with this up until you mentioned it now. I won an auction for the PS1, controller and Xplorer cartridge for 99p on Friday, and contacted the seller to arrange collection. He seemed to be fine with this, and said that he would be out on Monday, so he could meet up with me halfway on Monday. But no contact from him at all since that message on Friday, even though I sent him about four messages since then (so obviously no collection today). I'm guessing that this is a similar situation to jinn's one; the seller wanted more than 99p. Plus he has shipped out other items to people since the 18th, looking at his other auction end dates and the feedback left after receipt. But he took the risk by starting at just 99p, so he should just move on (he has a 100% feedback of 507)... what do you guys suggest my next move be?
If you haven't paid him, then unfortunately there isn't much you can do, since you haven't lose anything . . . yeah you won the auction but you haven't lost any money . . . its a crappy situation for sure. -Disjaukifa
After I posted that, I sent a message to the guy saying that if he didn't reply, I would contact eBay to see why. And what do you know? He now responded... providing another date for collection half-way, next week. Now let's see how this goes.
Well I'm glad that worked! Looking forward to hearing about the outcome of this transaction. On a different note, I should be getting my spindles and laser in the mail today! Been avoiding using my Playstations kill I got the spindles replaces on them. They make a really annoying sound when the CDs aren't balanced, especially when it goes to 2x speeds. -Disjaukifa
I got it today! The seller originally said Tuesday, but when I asked for earlier if possible, he said he could do today while waiting for his train, on his way to work. So I met up with him and collected it today. He didn't really seem to have an issue with the price that it went for. So to recap, I got: One SCPH-5502 console (with an immaculate condition spindle!); One SCPH-1020 memory card, transparent; One unofficial memory card; One Official RFU cable (will probably never use, but who knows...); One SCPH-1200 DualShock controller; One power cable, And an Xplorer FX cheat cartridge. All for 99p. The cheat cartridge was really my only reason for bidding lol... everything else was essentially a bonus in my mind.
Great news. I always bid on bundles for a particular game or item. Last time bid on 7 psx, 3 GC, 2 N64, 40 Games, 22 controllers, 11 memory cards. I got it for $120 Only reason I bid on it was because 2 of the PSX had translucent cases Green and Purple. Everything else I didn't need but was a nice addition.
I'm actually trying to find more translucent cases, for the PSX and PSone. So every time I see them on ebay or craigslist I try to get them. Would love to have a complete set for my collection
I've only used 2 spindles so far and they work great. The laser fixed up my DTL-H1000 beautifully, however I need to adjust the base and gain on it and I'm waiting for my multimeter to come in the mail so I can do that. The S-Video on the DTL-H1000 makes the PS1 look stunning on my HD 32" Sony Bravia . . . well as stunning as a PS1 game can be, but compared to my chipped 9001, its vastly better. -Disjaukifa
Was the original spindle on your DTL-H1000 the same as on any other console? That should be of the same time as the SCPH-1000, so I would assume that they would have the same spindle type. And if so, then it really must be a replacement spindle on this SCPH-1002, since I bought it a while back from Gumtree...
