Hi.I have 2 PS1s.One is a SCPH-9002,and the other one is a SCPH-5552.Now,I recently had to throw away another PS1 (broken SCPH-5502,you don't even want to know what I found in it)but saved the CD-ROM it had. Now,my 9002 had a broken spindle,so I took the entire drive out.(the sound the laser was doing was just unbearable)Then,I focused on replacing my 5552's CD-ROM,with the one I got from the PS1 I threw away and it works fine.(tested a russian copy(even though I'm romanian) of Abe's Exoddus I had around and it loaded without a problem,no FMV skipping now!)What I am left now with (the old 9002 drive is now in another, unmodded SCPH-9002)is the old CD-ROM my 5552 drive had(with a spindle that had all the black tabs missing)and a SCPH-9002 PS1 without a CD-ROM. Now,here comes the question: Can I fit the 5552 drive in the 9002 that I have(the one without the CD-ROM)and make it work?(I know that I have to change the 4 pin power cable, because the original 5552 power cable is too short)
Oh,okay then. Also, should I take the metal plate on the CD drive off or should I leave it there?(it has a black metal plate,I don't know what it is for,but can be found in any 5xxx system up to 700x)
