mine is still alive, infact i've only started getting into it, had no interest in ps2 back in its hayday
ah the Playstation 2 the seciond best system of the 6th gen first being the dreamcast i remember having so much fun with my cousins PS2 back in the early days we mostly played the resident evil series and dragonball games and fighting games on the PS2 i finialy bought my own just a couple years ago back in October 2010 when gamestop was having a sale for $29 on fats it is a v7 and runs like a champ i have a 400 gig hard drive in it and FMCB running the show the PS2 may be in retirement but it will live on for many years to come to bad it didn't remain in stores long enough to see its grand child PS4 come on the market heres hoping the PS4 will eather support PS2 games on disk or atleast have PS2 PSN downloads
So, which was the last model produced in japan? It would be nice to get the last ps2 batch as a souvenir.
well, the slim don't have a HD that makes the FMCB pointless. The best thing would be installing a modchip but I keep rearing rumors that a modchip makes lasers die young. In relation to the video, do you think a ps2tool would be something a regular user could enjoy? I was just chating and even the PS2 Debug seems to be of no use for gamers since it can't take FMCB.
actually no open PS2 loader can load games from the network and the earlier usb advance made FMCB quite useful on slims
Usb loading is terrible compared to IDE. The PS2 USB is 1.1 too slow for games. It's better to wear off the lens then play the games struggling to load and movies freezing all the time. I still don't think FMCB has any utility on the slim.
all game loaders and FMCB itself live in the reserved ram used for the bios so it DONT affect game ram besides a swap magic disk and ESR for loading backups work nicely in fact the 2.30 bios systems are built no differently then then 2.20 bios systems with how many PS2s are in the wild one of the last run systems will be pretty worthless even for a collection standpoint
The loaders within the open ps2 loader keep modifying what's in the ps2 ram and that consumes the whole ram. So loading via lan will consumes more ram and that will cause a bunch of games to freeze.
The thing that annoys me the most about the PS2 nowadays is it only having 2 controller ports, so no 4-player Timesplitters for most PS2 owners :moody:
