PS2 Button pressure sensitivity usage?

Wipeout can't be played well without the D-pad on the PS3.

 

Pressure sensitivity sounded cool on paper but the amount of force you had to keep pressed on the buttons hurt my fingers.

 

I use Nyco Type 2 controller, great huge controller. The buttons for me were not sensitive enough. Took apart and scraped a little of the resistance carbon coating off the PCB.

Now I don't have to mash the buttons as hard.
