So I have this Japanese PS2. I've had it for a while. For the most part it works fine, but the last few times I tried to use it the controller inputs had issues. Dual Shock 2 controllers don't seem to work at all when plugged into the Player 1 port, but they do work in the Player 2 port. Original Dual Shock controllers seem to work in both ports. Since I have a spare PS2 lying around (it is also NTSC-J) I was thinking of doing a controller input board transplant. Would that be a good idea, or should I try another tactic?

I can't see what it would hurt to try it...just be careful that u don't damage or trap the ridiculously fragile ribbon cables when u do it.

I just tried it again and now it seems to work. Odd. No point in replacing the controller ports now, I suppose.
