Hey guys, SO I have 2 different problems right now 1) My Dsi XL wont turn on! When I plug it into the charger, the orange light comes on and goes off immediately. I replaced the power board inside but same problem. What could the problem be? 2) My Ps2 (from old thread I made here) still has the problem of not reading the discs. So I decided to completely replace the CD/DVD driver IC on it and when I did and turned the Ps2 on, the ps2 turned on fine however there was smoke coming from the laser and it suddenly burnt out (i dont know why). (This was the chip i bought and replaced it http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1pc-of-BA5815FM-Integrated-Circuit-ROHM-/111338799383?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19ec4f4117) The Ps2 turns on fine but the laser has completely died out and I dont know what to do
DSI has a short on the motherboard and that's why the led come on but goes off quick, the Psu will shut down if it detects a short to save it's self. upload some high res photos of the Pcb, check the cart connector too, there may be something stuck in there shorting it out.. is the drive controller you bought the same part as the one you replaced, obviously it's put way too much power into the diode or coils, you didn't mess with the pot on the optical pickup did you? Maybe that laser is busted which probably blew the original controller, I read somewhere that on some models if you replace the controller ic you have to replace the laser too as they'll burn each other out. When one fails.. You probably have but check for shorts on the new controller (it may be dead already since you powered it) hope that hat helps a little
