Got a dead motor, tries to eject but is very slow and doesnt finish ejecting. Replaced with a known good one - works perfect. So its definitely the motor. I have 2 to compare - both are same dimensions, but one has a part number (jhs3b / 53ue1y24a) and the other one is completely unlabelled. Has anyone found a compatible motor and know the part number? Thanks
There are probably many motors that will work, but it's just finding one that fits without trying loads of them. I've found a couple that are almost the right size, but not quite.
rip into some old CD drives, if you find one that works you may have a better part number to go off.. Any idea of the manufacturer ?
There is no info on the 2 I have, other than what I posted. No logos etc. I am usually quite capable of sourcing parts, but not much to go on. I also can't really find any suppliers that I can search stock based on diameter and height of the motor, else I'd just order that way. I did find a couple on aliexpress that are for car cd players, but the dimensions are a little off (but pretty close). I don't have a stack of old drives to rip open to do your suggestion though, if I had, I would have done so already. Just hoping someone else has already gone through all this.
I have a tray from one of my SCPH-10000's. The motor is labeled "JDS3B/50TA0308A" any help? I was keeping it a a spare (amongst other things), but i'd be willing to let you have it if it's of any use, and are willing to cover postage
Since it's a fat PS2, the relevant service manual should list the part, as well as all supported (alternative) parts.
part numbers I have found in service manuals dont seem to google into anything. Possibly internal part numbers?
Yeah, that's an internal part number. >_> Wow, of all parts that could need replacement, you needed to replace the one that somehow isn't documented. In some of the manuals that I have, they didn't even label the parts of the MD assembly (the CD/DVD drive). That means that the whole drive gets ordered. D: There were a few chassis models, so perhaps you should mention the console and chassis model numbers (as a few chassis designs share the same model number). For all we could know, the motor was replaced as the drive's design for revised. Hopefully, someone would be able to sell/donate a suitable part to you. Chassis model: the single alphabet printed beside the factory site code (e.g. "G FOXC", for my G-chassis SCPH-39006 that was manufactured by Foxconn), which is typically printed at the lower right-hand corner of the device information sticker. The A, B and C chassis models don't have such a letter, but the design for the B and C chassis is highly similar. I doubt that you have an A-chassis, as only the SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and GH-003 SCPH-18000 fall under this category. If your console has the same motor as the SCPH-10000, I would gladly give you one because I have two dead units. Sadly, we live so far apart. >_>
v5 - v8 have the same motor and board. Also v9 and v10 have same motor, but on a different board. v1 - v4 I believe have the same motor, but has wires soldered to it and its mounted via some screws. But again, this should still fit if you solder it into the original board. I cant find any decent pictures to compare against though. The 2 motors I have are from 39003 consoles and are different (but compatible) motors.
I have one that matches V9/V10 version in the pic. Seems it may also work in V5-V7. PM me if interested in getting it.
