Does anyone have any information on this connector? The part number, or even just the manufacturer's name should be enough. I'd like to buy the female version, but I can't find anything, so I thought I'd ask here. Perhaps in test models the connector has the part number printed on the shielding? Also, a quick Google search gave me this pinout. Does anyone know where it came from?
1- Apparently it is an connector which was developed to be used on docking stations for notebook PCs. 2- It's bus is PCMCIA. 3- It's cost reduced so it has a lot of pins removed and no longer support hot swap. 4- Pinout came from official service manual (has schematics for the motherboard). An source for these connectors probably still exists in China because I've seen pirate/counterfeit network adapters (Only has HDD portion, no network/MAC controller) based on some ALTERA FPGA.
Must, I assume the ones you've been seeing are the SATA based ones I've seen as well...for $40. Yick.
Which is precisely the reason I was asking for help here. I want to make one myself and give the design away, so that those who have a FPGA lying around can build one. I don't really have a problem with soldering wires directly to the PS2 motherboard, if that's the only way I can pull it off, but I'd rather solder a 110-pin connector on a throw-away PCB than a ton of small wires on a live board. Besides, I'd like to make one for a friend, and he can't solder stuff. OK, I sold my soul to the Internets and in return now I know that it is made by Sony themselves, part number 181563211 (-12 for the other one). Perhaps somebody in China who isn't Sony makes these, as l_oliveira says? If any of you have a clone adapter, could you please open it up and take some pictures of the connector? The part number might be printed somewhere.
