Hey, does anyone know the SCPH number for the vertical stand that fits the PS2+External HDD combo? thanks.
SCPH-10220 I assume https://www.scei.co.jp/media/s_ps2_stand.html http://maru-chang.com/hard/scph/index.php/english/#SCPH-10220
Thanks Riki, It seems apart from the SAKURA model they all share the same SCPH number, only having a suffix for the colour. I looks like only the "NB" clear black one is the only adjustable one. But when you search around you can find plenty of pictures of a blue shaded one, like the stock SCPH-10220. Edit: My mistake, after zooming in on the link you sent me you can see that all three are adjustable... DUH!!
Wow, I love that model number list. I actually have some information for them, though. I know the difference between the two expansion bay PS2 network adapter models. What appears to be a prototype version of the network adapter came with the PS2 Linux kit. It only has an Ethernet jack - it does not have a phone jack. Also, it didn't come with the setup software, which clearly wasn't ready. The Linux kit had all that instead. I should email this person and help fill out this list, especially regarding some rare stuff (SCPH-7000W, for example) and with the American side of things. It would be nice to have a complete list. Hehe, I remember that. I was the person who discovered the region check bypass bug in the SCPH-10000. I tracked it down to playing around with the controller while waiting for the DVD region error to come up when testing stuff in the very first days of messing with the console. Later, people found out that the cause was a bug where controller input caused an error state that went to the DVD player menu without going through the state that checked the region first.
SCPH-10350 is anything but rare. I have two. (SCPH-10390 is the complete HDD+network adapter PCMCIA kit, I also happen to own two) Only USA had expansion bay network adapters with analog modem built in. (SCPH-10281 as site mentions Japanese model would be SCPH-10280 if it were released) Japanese PlayOnline Viewer software works fine with SCPH-10281 network adapter. The modem dials and connects to a ISP correctly and establishes Internet connection. Downloading FFXI updates with that would be a very miserable experience, though. Hm ... The real reason behind the recall of the DVD utility discs was the "analog hole". DVD driver 1.00 would obey the OSD setting for component video output. So if you had RGB enabled there, the DVD driver would output RGB and the fact that the PS2 will not output macrovision pulses on that mode enraged the Hollywood studios. The region detection bug was minor in that mess, really. The real concern was that the PS2 could be used for movie piracy (DVD to VHS conversions).
