I just tried a ps2 game(backup and original) on my ps3 test machine and none of them worked, so I was a little confused since its a 60gb model and I thought it should be able to. So, should it or should it not, anyone know? Btw I have low firmware, maybe thats why?
Okay, mine is not though. Could it be the low firmware or do I have a test that cant play ps2 games you think? It's also a protototype model, maybe that has something to do with it?
well, i can attest to the playing of ps2 games on a ps3 TEST [ver 2.2 at this point]. I don't have any non-US region games, but American games work on the system. I will say though, it may be the firmware, i vaguely remember them not working, but that would have been when i got it and the firmware was at 1.2 or something really low like that
Well I do know a test ps3 will play any region, debug and backup ps1 and ps2 games,a ps2 game backup game may need to be patched for them to play.I would try and update the firmware.
Yeah hopefully it's the firmware then, I'm at 1.32 kinda low, but I'll get around to updating eventually Thanks for the replies
The 60GB ps3 test will run any ps2 games from any region as well as backups as long as they are patched as master discs, in other words it will do precisely what the ps2 test units already does. Of course it is needless to say that ps2 games wont run on the new 40GB ps3 test model (and the 60GB model is no longer manuactured) Perhaps in the future ps2 software compatibility will be back in the 40GB model through software updates, who knows.... Also about ps1 games they also run fine from any regions as well as backups. ps1 and ps2 games also get upscaled fine on the ps3 test 60GB.
Are you saying ripped (via ps3 linux ISO or BR drive direct) and remastered with PS3Gen? Or is there some patch util?
