Let me know if there is a way because I don't want to keep the lid open everytime I want to play Hokuto No Ken. However I've noticed nothing really happens when I pop the lid on my system so maybe I don't need those rubber thingies?
you will just need devices that will hold the two sensors down when the lid is up, and keep the rubber foot that stops the disc from spinning when the lid is open to stay back when the lid is open.
Maybe I should just get a Japanese PS2 then.........I don't really like the idea of my system being open while I play imports
http://www.modchipstore.com/files/images/v12disassembly-fliptop.jpg <- very clear instructions on how to do it. Literally 8 screws. 6 for the top of the case, and 2 for the drive door. Unless you go rooting arround in the electronics with your screwdriver poking at random things or jabbing at the electronics, there is NO CHANCE AT ALL that you will damage or destroy your PS2. EDIT: I found a thing called the "Magic Key II" which is the same slide cards but allow your PS2 to close. You can get them at Mod-Chip.com.
Given the unreliabity of PS2s I don't want to do anything to void my waranty. I think will get the Coders disc/magic key II seems like my best option.
Reading about the Magic Key thing did say that you can close the lid, so that should be exactly what you wanted.I did find it amusing that the system has a rubber disc brake, and ofcourse the fact that they spelled brake 'break'.
