hiya, i have recently bought a multiregion test ps2, iv been burning games with success using a combo of disc patcher+imgburn however disc patcher wont work on a few games, i read that you can hex edit a ps2 iso so it can be used in a test ps2 and i was wondering how to do that, any help would be appreciated and if poss a tut with pics, iv tried dvdgen with no success and if hex editing is easier id like to know more about it, thanks in advance :)

ah ye, and it was more than just adding the master disc string. this made the disc getting recognized as ps2 dvd, but it wouldnt boot.

i think i may have found the solution, im using winhex, i opened Shrek Smash n Crash Racing, then opened another iso which i previously patched, i have found the master disc data from offset 000007000, il copy and paste the info from the patched disc into smash n crash, edit the game ID, hopefully that should do the trick, il report back :)

Loser's website used to have a breakdown of what the patcher was doing, and how the ELF header needed to be laid out.

I think the PS2 technical documents had details on how the debug ELF header worked on the debug units. The full set of documentation is something like 10,000 pages though. Someone here probably has a PDF.

    tools needed:

    ultraiso
    cdgenps2
    discpatcher
    imgburn

    1) open ultraiso and extract iso to any folder of your choice, close ultraiso.
    2) open cdgenps2 drag extracted files to right hand side, edit game ID to SLUSxxxx or SLESxxxx depending on the game you extracted, export IML file anywhere you want, close cdgenps2.
    3) open ultraiso again, import the IML file you made, then click file>properties TICK UDF and change media in drop down bar to 4.7GB , press ok then click file>save as standard iso file anywhere you want to, it will build the iso, close ultraiso.
    4) open discpatcher, browse the iso you just made, it will patch now, close discpatcher.
    5) open imgburn burn iso lowest speed possible :)

    enjoy.

EDIT: i dont know why its not making full size DVD my finished iso is 1GB but it still works.
