    Here are two builds of Max Payne 2 for the PS2, found on Sk8er000 Tool's emulation hdd which he shared a dump of here:

    The retail version executable is dated Nov 16th 2003, it's weird that one of the builds here was made after the retail version.

    I didn't play them much, here are some easily noticeable differences between the two builds:

    Amazing... Rockstar beta stuff is very hard to come by.

    it's common practice for devs. after release they fixes the bugs and make things which they didn't have time to do before, to add them into re-print versions/later releases
