Sorry to ask here, but it seems that I cannot get a straight answer. I have a slim ps2 (the first model) and I really, really don't want to mod or flip top it. I have heard about these exploits with the memory card, but I heard that some people say PSone games will not work while others say that I need to make patched copies of my imports in order to boot. What gives? All I want is to easily play my Rockman Complete Works as well as my Sega Ages without modding. Can anyone give me a hint? Thanks
NO, you cant play imports directly with a memory card exploit. You have to backup your PS2 import and patch it, as for the PS1 I think its only possible by using an original PS1 gameshark or similar boot disk
The PS2 cannot play original imports without a modchip or swap trick. You can play PS2 imports if you burn and patch them to play with ESR, commonly used with Free MC Boot. It doesn't require a mod or swap trick. But to be clear, there is no PS1 copy or import support. If you want to play original import discs, you should get a modchip. Avoid swap trick type things. With Free MC Boot you can: - Play PS2 DVD Burned Discs which have been "patched" including Imports - Start PS2 Homebrew Programs You Can't: - Play Unpatched Burned Discs - Play Original Import Discs - Play PS2 games on Burned CD-R Discs - Play PS1 Imports - Play PS1 Burned Discs So it's generally just for playing PS2 DVD backups which is the vast majority of PS2 games. Memento promised playing PS1 backups in a future update but this was complete bullshit.
