Ey guys, I recently picked up another ps2, its a v7 like my old one but this one is in a lot better condition ( working DVD drive that's quite in general looks brand new ) so I took my modbo out of my old ps2 and installed it into the new one and its not working even ho my solder is fine. What it does is it shows the matrix screen then boots the ps2 like normal, if I hold triangle and circle I can get in and change the matrix settings. But when I put in a burned disk, which worked in the other ps2 before the laser died, it gives the red screen which says the disk is bad. Any suggestions on what to do? If its that the modchip won't work I'll just keep using ESR.
It might be the lazer, or it might happen because you have used bad quality discs or the wrong kind of disc.
i burned the games onto the same disks as my few esr versions, i believe i fucked up a solder point oh well ill solder it again and see
If the matrix logo is showing at startup, then your "M, N, O, P, Q, T, U, V, R, W, CX, 3.3v and GND" Points are working perfectly. SX is for PS1 backup/import support, if it boots PS1 backups and/or imports then that point is working. "Y" is for Region Free DVD Playback, if it boots an out of region movie then your ok for that point. "A G H I B" are the PS2 backup/import support points so if its not booting up your PS2 backups and/or imports, i would check/rework those.
i figured out wha was wrong with it, the solder i have is shut, i bought super this solder from somewhere online and there was a bunch of cold solder points, the points you said were working perfectly were, i re soldered everything ( with the cheap shitty solder ) and it booted up but it wouldnt even spin disks, i soldered it with my old thick solder that i used in my old ps2 with the dead lazer and the ps2 works perfectly. heres a pic of the solder job now:
